During time off from our hectic lives and work we want to spend some time with our loved ones and have some rest and relaxation. Sometimes we forget to tend to our recreational pools. Even though we don’t have arctic freezes here in coastal Texas we still need to be conscious of the cold weather. So, if there are any nights that are extremely cold, your pool equipment can be turned on for circulation to ensure that the pipes above ground don’t freeze, or we will wrap them for you.
Keep in mind that even though you’re not using your pool much in the winter it shouldn’t be neglected. And for those of you who have hot tubs, remember to use them! You’ve worked hard! Call Pool People at 866-473-0413 x12 during the holidays so your pool will be enjoyable all year!

I’m looking for a swimming pool, water aerobics class, or swimming hole where I can swim fully clothed for extra weight and exercise. Somewhere I can do this without getting in trouble or looking odd! Any suggestions?
I’m sure it depends upon what part of town you are in regarding good swimming places. Good luck in finding one that will let you wear your clothes, although the big thing to most facilities is to shower before going into the pool.
I’ve done an extensive search of places around central Houston where one can lap swim and do water aerobics with a preference for an indoor pool where it can be done year round.
Dad’s Club – I10 at Voss – 1006 Voss Road
Has an indoor and outdoor heated pools along with very basic work out room. Family atmosphere.
Bayou Park Village Apartments – 4400 Memorial Drive
Has an outdoor heated lap pool which is not closely montiored so you could probably wear whatever you want. You need a card key to get in but if you’re lucky can follow someone in. This is also a reasonable innner loop place to live as it is an older complex. They have a nice workout gym that is also included in the cost of living in the complex.
Downtown YMCA – has indoor heated lap pool.
LA Fitness – This new workout gym is in the same complex with Julian’s and Edward’s Cinema on I-10 has an indoor lap pool but I don’t know much abou it.
Saint Street Swim (around River Oaks) has an indoor pool for lessons and allows lap swimming for the swim team.
Metropolitan Multi-Purpose Center has an indoor pool on West Grey, however, you need to have some disability or doctor’s perscription to use the facility.

Also – up in the Huntsville area, there is a swimming hole called Blue Lagoon that scuba divers use to do their final swim for PADI certification. I’m sure no one would care what you wear there.
I live in Houston, curreently HOA president, we have a un-mannned swimming pool. Anyone know if city have code requirement for ememgency phone near the pool?
I think the city would be able to give you a far more accurate answer than you could get here. Call the building department and they will be able to answer your question. Good luck.

My wife has a skin condition that causes hives when exposed to the sun too long. On the other hand swimming is her favorite thing to do. Most domes look like they are for winter use only and I can’t find any pool cage manufacturers for the Houston area. Please help.
that would be a custom job. I sell pool supplies and the closest thing that I would have is a 20ft wide funbrella, it anchors into the deck and provides shade, but the shadow reaching the pool would only be 10 ft, you would need a few of them, and they are pricey. The next thing would be to make a stainless steel frame and anchor it to the deck, then fasten solar blankets to the frame, just make sure to leave some openings, because the blankets would trap air, and you don’t want to suffocate her. But you could make a stainless steel dome frame, anchor it to the deck and fasten solar blankets to it.

Sagemont Pool at 11507 Hughes Road is operated by the city of Houston during the summer months. For information regarding swimming pools, contact aquatics at 713-845-1009 or 281-922-2312. Sagemont Pool is open to the public.
The adjacent Sagemont Recreation Center provides area youth after-school enrichment programs, which emphasize fitness, awareness, crafts, self-esteem and field trips.
Year-round sports are offered for ages 4 and up. For information, call 281-922-2343.
The recreation center has a free immunization program. It also has a free tennis program, and a golf program is offered at Law Park on Mykawa.

This was what Hurricane IKE did in pit bull Sharky’s house in Houston. It was my first time to feel the Hurricane power, it was very scary to hear the loud wind sounds and doors in my house were squeaking. We lost power for 2 weeks, and when power did come back on. Then rebooting comcast internet by pressing automated option number ONE on the phone – fried our computer with lot’s of data on it.

HOA swimming pool demo?
well about a year ago my parents drained out the pool because they were going to clean it then repaint and fill up the pool. It was left without water for a few weeks and one side of the pool came out of the ground. it rained and HOA sent us a few notices about stagnant water, we drained it but it has been raining alot in houston. We now got cited and are supposed to appear in court in a couple of weeks. My dad and brothers demolished the pool then covered it with fill dirt and there is no more stagnant water. A friend of mine said that we should have got a permit to demo the pool.
My question is can we demolish it ourselves then fill it up? Did we need any permits?
Should we present photos of finished work at court or just wait and see what they tell us?

yup – needed a permit…and yes now when you go to court take your pics…hopefully they will dismiss the stagnat HOA thing and just fine you for no permit.
